Welcome to the Alice Springs Pistol Club (A.S.P.C) website!
The Alice Springs Pistol Club was founded on the 22nd of July 1959 and has been in continuous operation longer than any other Pistol Club in the Northern Territory. For the first two years the facilities were shared with a Gun club approx 2 km east of the present range. The club has excellent facilities: a 25 and a 50 metre range with 24 stands each. It has a relatively new air conditioned indoor air pistol range, named after one of the club’s founders, Clarrie Smith, with 25 stands, each equipped with automatic target retrieval. There’s also a cozy clubroom and bar – which stays shuttered until the day’s shooting is over. Basic camping facilities are available for visiting shooters competing in an event with ADVANCE PRIOR ARRANGEMENT. Alice Springs Pistol Club is open to all interested shooters, young (minimum age 12) and old alike. Visitors from affiliated pistol clubs are welcome to participate in all scheduled matches (except closed championships) upon proof of membership of such club. A range fee may be charged, other visitors may shoot in "Trial Shoots" as set out by the club with a maximum of three (3) such shoots before an entrance fee become payable. Range fees will be paid.
Pistol Northern Territory (PNT) is affiliated with the National body - Pistol Australia which in turn is represented on the International Shooting Union, officially known as I.S.S.F. The ISSF is the only organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the governing body of amateur international shooting sport for all international shooting competitions. Thus the ISSF controls the technical regulations in all the target shooting disciplines including pistol, rifle and shotgun.
As the premier target pistol shooting association in Australia, Pistol Australia maintains the mandate to field Australian target pistol shooting teams to the Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games and other international target pistol shooting competitions.
